Today is the grand official opening of the brand new family-raft water slide at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park at the Walt Disney World Resort. Guests will take this fast and fun-thrilled water slide as they learn about the story of Captain Mary Oceaneer who got washed up with all of her treasures and her fellow parrot-partner by the name of Duncan.
You can see Duncan inside of the shipwreck and is a audio-animatronic like Jose from the Enchanted Tiki Room as he searches, sings, and chatting in the looking of Captain Mary’s lost treasures and relics that got washed up.
The rafts can hold 4 people at a time as they twist, turn, and dip on a water adventure and guests can see collected treasures from Captain Oceaneer in the course of the water slide and the duration of it is about average 2-5 minutes long.
Just to recap if your not familiar with the story of Captain Oceaneer it goes like this: “As a world-famous oceanographer and member of the Society of Explorers and Adventurers (S.E.A), Captain Mary made it her goal to sail the seven seas and collect treasures to share with the rest of the world. Typhoon Lagoon became the home to Captain Mary’s ship after a rogue typhoon swept it and some of her artifacts to shore, where the locals then repurposed the goods and statues to create this family raft adventure.”
S.E.A is a universal story by Disney of different attractions, restaurants, and the Disney Cruise Lines through out worldwide in different countries. The story originated in Tokyo DisneySea with the S.E.A. Fortress Exploration and Hightower Tower of Terror (just not to be confused with the other Tower of Terrors in other Disney Parks). Walt Disney World’s S.E.A. connection is with the Skipper’s Canteen and Big Thunder Mountain at the Magic Kingdom, Hong Kong Disneyland with Mystic Manor, and the Oceaneer Labs on the Disney Cruise Lines.
