With Walt Disney World’s big 50th anniversary celebration, coming up this weekend on October 1st as the resort is always trying to come up with the best and innovation to cater towards the guest experience. MagicBands have been a guest favorite since their first introduction back in 2013, and hands free for attractions, on-resort hotels, retail and dining etc.
Disney is introducing a new type of band called “MagicBand+” that will keep those features and adds functionality and new magic moments for you. Earlier this year as Disney did announce another contactless way for iOS devices called “Disney MagicMobile”. In which you can read those details here about it.
Unlike MagicMobile that is used for digital use, as MagicBand+ is more about the interactivity and will come to life with color changing lights, haptic vibrations and gesture recognition.
Guests will able to engage with some of your favorite Disney moments in new ways as followed:
- Play like a bounty hunter in a galaxy far, far away and find virtual bounties throughout Black Spire Outpost in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
- Interact with the “Disney Fab 50 Character Collection,” the golden sculptures spread throughout the Walt Disney World theme parks.
- Experience nighttime spectaculars in a new way as you see your band light up and complement the magic in the skies, including the new “Harmonious” at EPCOT and “Disney Enchantment” at Magic Kingdom Park.
Pricing was not release yet for Magicband+ and will be going on sale in 2022. Including a discounted, pre-arrival price for Disney Resort hotel guests as well as new and renewing Walt Disney World Annual Passholders. Current MagicBands will still continue, along with with the complimentary Disney MagicMobile service that extends MagicBand features, such as park entry, to smart devices.
It will also help immerse you in Disney stories and connect with characters you love like never before. Details will be shared later on in the future for what’s ahead for this innovation tech from Disney.
