This afternoon is a breaking announcement in which being reported during the annual earrings call for The Walt Disney Company by Chairman and CEO, Bob Iger officially announced a opening date for Pandora: The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom this May 27th, 2017 and a likely time frame of 2019 for the expansion of Star Wars at the Disneyland Resort and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Pandora will just be two days after the grand opening of NBC Universal/Comcast’s first and third water park of Volcano Bay on May 25th, 2017 and both Disney and Universal fans are going to have a very fun and interesting week once these two new additions are opened up this summer. Chairman and CEO Iger described the world of Pandora according towards The Orlando Sentinel that “It is “the biggest new land we’ve opened in Florida in a very long time. I think that’s good for the whole business down there…. We really believe in the coming years the interest in Avatar is only going to grow as those movies enter the marketplace. We can’t quantify it but we think this is big potential.”
Guests will be immersed and to be captivated in the bioluminescent world of Pandora and able to take flight of a flying Banshee or taking a scenic tour of the Na’vi River Journey in a mystic rainforest of alien life. Ground broke for construction since January 2014 for the whole development process of James Cameron’s number one top grossing film of all time.
Both Star Wars expansions on both coasts for the Disney Parks in California and Florida will be the largest expansions built in a span of 14 acres and ground broke for construction, April 2016 and sharing and bringing stories from across the whole Star Wars galaxy far, far away. The expansion will be slated in time for next Star Wars installment for Episode 9 and next year with the Han Solo film as well.
There was no mention also for the opening for the Toy Story expansion as well too during the earrings call but, stayed tuned towards the Disney Parks Blog if there is any word or confirmation of it.
