This week has been a very busy week for big announcements by The Walt Disney Company with the announcement dates for Pandora at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and the Star Wars expansions at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and over at the Disneyland Resort. Well finally after some long delays and major bumps in the road that the Disney Parks Blog has officially announced the opening date for new nighttime show of Rivers of Light.
We all hope this will be the “real date” because the show was promised last year on Animal Kingdom’s birthday and Earth Day but, with so many technical and mechanical issues it was delayed. The show was announced back in October 2013 and flash forwarding it was replaced by the temporary interim The Jungle Book: Alive With Magic show that was created within a 60 day time frame because Rivers of Light wasn’t up and ready to debut.
Rivers of Light will debut next week Friday, February 17th, 2017 and yesterday a cut down version of the show was debuted towards the Disney Social Media Moms as preview. This may not be the full version until we find out next weekend for it and video of it down below by via Jones Family Travels on YouTube.

“Get swept away in a timeless show that celebrates the beauty of all living things. With a brilliant fusion of water, sound and light, it’s quite unlike anything you’ve experienced before! As sunlight fades and the stars begin their twinkle, remember that we are all bound together by earth and spirit—past, present and future.
Listen as the Discovery River responds to the whispers of the world, cradling creatures with a symphony that swells with wild murmurs and shimmering secrets of the universe. So begins a new light—a vibrant awakening of flitting fireflies leading to a ceremonious procession across the water. Before your eyes, clusters of lantern light shift and shape into stunning animal spirit forms—the Tiger, Turtle, Elephant and Owl.
