SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment Announces Sesame Street Expansion For SeaWorld Orlando

Sunny days are certainly going to be lighting up for what’s new for SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment later on for SeaWorld Orlando. SeaWorld announced this morning for the IP of “Sesame Street” for a expansion for SeaWorld Orlando by Fall 2022. Plans for another park are in the works based on the children-television series by 2021 are yet to be announced.


SeaWorld has been partnership with Sesame Workshop for the past 37 years which a nonprofit organization to help educate kids in the works of media for becoming smarter, stronger, and kinder. Langhorne, PA is the only theme park in the United States that is the home of many beloved Sesame Street characters.

“We know that the magic of theme parks gives families a unique and powerful way to experience and delight in the Sesame Street characters,” said Jeffrey D. Dunn, Chief Executive Officer of Sesame Workshop. “Building more Sesame Place theme parks will enable us to connect with even more families and provide funding that supports our nonprofit mission.”

The new Sesame Street expansion will overtake the Shamu’s Harbor Play area and expansions for the IP have been already been built in SeaWorld San Diego and San Antonio  and Busch Gardens parks. SeaWorld and Sesame Street have a multi-year deal until December 2031 and will draw many families with kids of their own based off the television series towards SeaWorld Orlando and the third park that were created by The Jim Henson Company.


The Sesame Place theme park features a variety of exciting family rides, water slides, live character shows, a daily parade, and seasonal events that help bring the educational world of Sesame Street to life beyond the show.

Sesame Place also extends Sesame Workshop’s commitment to social impact work with its Sesame Place Cares annual series of events both in and outside the park, including a 30-year partnership with Variety–The Children’s Charity, focused on providing events with a safe and fun atmosphere specifically for children with disabilities and their families.
