Universal Studios Hollywood Announces Official Date For The Kung Fu Panda Attraction

Universal Studios Hollywood just officially announced for the opening date for the Kung Fu Panda attraction at the new Dreamworks Animation Theater for an opening date for this June 15, 2018. This was originally the Shrek 4D attraction that closed down last year to make way for a brand new and immersive kind of Dreamworks attraction experience.

The announcement was made last year and where at the time of when details were scarce but, did provide us with insight of what the attraction would look like.

In case you missed the details of the storyline for Kung Fu Panda: The Emperor’s Quest that were released earlier, here’s out the attraction will play out-

“Created and produced by DreamWorks Animation and Universal Creative, “Kung Fu Panda:  The Emperor’s Quest” recounts a plot filled story whereby on the morning of The Emperor’s Great Feast of Heroes, dragon warrior Po embarks on a wild and perilous mission to deliver the rare and precious Liquid of Limitless Power to the Palace, while enlisting guests to join him on the exciting adventure filled with raging rapids, river pirates, awesome magic and Kung Fu.”

Kung Fu Panda will be also a pre-show much like Shrek 4D from the following-

“Featuring an original score by composer Germaine Franco, the storyline begins as guests enter the pre-show area of the theatre where they meet an array of DreamWorks characters who kick-off the attraction’s narrative. From there, guests will enter the main theatre, complete with new ultra-plush, fully articulated seats that pivot and swivel in tandem with the 180-degree action.”

“With cutting-edge technology at the forefront of the multi-sensory attraction, “Kung Fu Panda:  The Emperor’s Quest” will introduce the first-ever integration of interior projection mapping designed to engulf guests in 180 degrees of immersive adventure. Developed by the innovative team at Universal Creative, this never-before-adapted technique will depict a series of immersive and visually dynamic scenic designs that will transform within the interior space and enhance the story. With detailing that is so precise, it will be near impossible to realize the projected imagery is a mere illusion.”

Back last year in which Universal did confirm that be adding new Dreamworks characters to meet and greet their guests from Dreamworks IPs even Kung Fu Panda’s Po and Tigress;  Alex the Lion, the Penguins (Skipper, Rico, Kowalski and Private) from Madagascar , and King Julian; Poppy and Branch from Trolls‘;  and lastly Puss ‘n Boots will join existing characters Shrek and Fiona from Shrek.

NBCUniversal & Comcast acquired the ownership of the studio back in August 2016 for $3.8 billion dollars for the rights and assets of the animation studio and also allowing to use Dreamworks characters from their properties for Universal Parks & Resorts worldwide.
