Last year back in June we got an official announcement from Universal Studios Hollywood that the former Shrek 4-D attraction would be replaced by another DreamWorks property of the popular franchise of “Kung Fu Panda. Opening this Summer 2018 in which will be the DreamWorks Animation Theater that will be using the IP as an attraction that will be using multi-sensory attractions with state of the art mapping and LED lighting effects for a in-depth storytelling.
Today, in which we got more updated details about the attraction for “Kung Fu Panda: The Emperor’s Quest” and here’s what guests can expect this year for the attraction:
“Kung Fu Panda: The Emperor’s Quest” has been created and produced by DreamWorks Animation alongside Universal Creative. The projection mapping mentioned before will actually be the first-ver integration of interior projection mapping, which is designed to engulf guests in 180 degrees of immersive adventure. The attraction “recounts a plot-filled story whereby on the morning of The Emperor’s Great Feast of Heroes, dragon warrior Po embarks on a wild and perilous mission to deliver the rare and precious Liquid of Limitless Power to the Palace, while enlisting guests to join him on the exciting adventure filled with raging rapids, river pirates, awesome magic and Kung Fu.” The visuals will be projected with seven Christie 4K Boxer Cinema Projectors and utilize 360 degree surround sound audio with physical effects like water and wind.”
The architectural style of the building is a 1920s style of Art Deco theater, and where you’ll find a box office ticket seller that is being managed by a three-dimensional Pinocchio that is asleep on the job. Guests will navigate past the ticket booth into the outdoor garden before moving into the theater queue and where you will find 36 movie posters that pay homage towards DreamWorks Animation.
The lobby area will be showcasing 20 award statuettes that will be representing the honors that DreamWorks Animation has won from 2008-2015 along with original sculpted maquettes of the “Kung Fu Panda: The Emperor’s Quest” characters. They will be displayed with artifacts embodying magical powers that Po brought back from the Spirit Realm.”
An original score for the attraction will be composed by Germaine Franco beginning in a pre-show area and where guests will meet a variety of DreamWorks characters who will begin the narrative before moving into the main theater with brand new “ultra-plush, fully articulated seats that pivot and swivel in tandem with the 180-degree action.”
