Previously the old annual passholder program for Disneyland Resort was terminated as Ken Potrock said the new program would be announced before the year is out. Well that day is today and will be called “Magic Key”!
As many of the legacy passholders and local residents of California have been waiting for quite a while about the news and here’s what Disney has detailed.
Disney’s annual passholders are what make a good portion of park revenue for the resorts, particularly for Disneyland. To offer choice, flexibility and value for park admission, special access to unique experiences, valuable saving opportunities. There will be four options to select for the Magic Key passes.
Here’s a breakdown for each tier of passes down below and with the benefits that come with it:
Depending on guests’s preferred pass and budget as they will be going on sale starting August 25th, 2021. The theme park reservation system will be still in play for Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. Magic Key holders will able to make reservations in advanced (subject to availability), and to hold certain number of upcoming reservations (depending on the pass type).
More Perks And Benefits
As Disney Parks APs know and love the extra benefits like saving money for merchandise and food & beverage. Holders can look forward to enjoy dedicated dining and custom menu items at the Magic Key terrace. Including festivals that will be exclusive towards holders, a celebration month just dedicated for them and much more.
A brand new Magic Key portal on the Disneyland app will be deeply engaged with the community for future Magic Key holders.
Get First Hand Dibs
If you want to be part of cool kids club, for a limited time for charter members that become Magic Key holders within the first 66 days of will gets some more perks with it. A welcoming package that will include unique items such as a premium branded pin, celebratory button, magnet and much more! Magic Key holders who enter Disneyland park will also be celebrated with access to a limited-time experience at Starcade in Tomorrowland (which begins on Sept. 1), where they can enjoy charging stations, a special photo opportunity, and other fun surprises.
How To Purchase A Magic Key Pass
As mention the new program will be going on sale on August 25th, 2021 (no later than 10am PST). Guests will have their first opportunity to select either Disneyland or Disney California Adventure with a theme park reservation the same day. The monthly payment will however still be utilized like the previous program. Magic Key pass will be low as $399 a month or $19 a month for 12 months (Southern California residents, after a down payment).
Looking Ahead And Walt Disney World Annual Passholders
The Halloween season is approaching soon for the Disneyland Resort that will start September 3rd till October 31st. Speciality festivals to be enjoyed throughout the year that also tie into the Magic Key Holders.
Also for fellow Walt Disney World annual passholders, as some good news was shared! New pass sales will be going on later down the line before the start of Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary. More information and details will be shared later this month.
Other information detailed for Magic Key Holders:
–Monthly payments option valid only for California Residents, 18 years or older with valid ID, and living in ZIP Codes 90000–96199. Twelve (12) monthly payments based on remaining balance after one-time down payment on date of Passport purchase. 0% APR. Subject to restrictions, including a retail installment agreement, and change without notice.
–Magic Key holder must present their valid pass prior to purchases to receive any applicable benefits or discounts. Benefits/discounts are subject to restrictions and exclusions and are determined solely by Disney or store/location owner.
–Based on purchase of the Imagine Key pass, which is available only to Southern California residents living in ZIP Codes 90000-93599. Monthly payment amount is based on remaining balance after a one-time down payment on date of Passport purchase of $179. Twelve (12) monthly payments and 0% APR apply. Subject to restrictions, including a retail installment agreement, and change without notice.
