The popular fan favorite for Figment who has been EPCOT’s mascot for decades and known on the attraction, “Journey Into Imagination”. The beloved character will be an official in-person meet and greet character to be there some point in 2023. No details were shared by Disney Parks Chairman, Josh D’Amaro announced at the D23 Expo for an exact date.

Now switching over towards the Magic Kingdom as this was the biggest surprise of them all but, has been embedded richly within Walt Disney Imagineering’s heritage and history.
The iconic and one of the most important residents within The Haunted Mansion that was formerly removed at Disneyland when the attraction opened up in August 1969, for the Hatbox Ghost. Flash forward and he was brought back in 2015 as part of Disneyland’s 60th Diamond Celebration. However that forever changes as the Hatbox Ghost is materializing at Walt Disney World’s The Haunted Mansion in 2023!

Which will be part of Disney’s 100th anniversary of the company but, no date wasn’t mentioned for his ghostly appearance. Former Disney Imagineer and Legend, Tony Baxter explained back in a panel on August 2015 he was hoping to see the fixed version by the time he got to Florida and he was down there for the last 9-months as he was 22 years old at the time. Basically when the Magic Kingdom was opening on October 1st, 1971.

It was finished in April by the time he got there and locked the door. Occasionally someone went in to tweak it up open and their was no Hatbox Ghost. He though for whatever was going to work and didn’t know the illusion effects within his career. In a sense as Baxter has been one of the biggest advocates for wanting the Hatbox Ghost at Magic Kingdom park for quite some years now.
And here’s the announcement from Disney’s TikTok.
