Disney Announces The End Date For “Illuminations: Reflections Of Earth” at Epcot

As Epcot is moving forward in transforming their park in making way for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary in 2021, with new nighttime entertainment offerings and immersive new additions towards the park. Disney is aiming to make Epcot’s message to be- “more timeless, more family friendly, more Disney”.

As it was announced yesterday that Disney will be officially ending the 20-year run, nighttime spectacular for, “Illuminations: Reflections of Earth” at the World Showcase. The final date will be on September 30th, 2019, with the new interim show “Epcot Forever” that will start on October 1st, 2019.  Their will be a brand new “untitled show” in 2020 that Disney will be debuting, with an opening date is TBA.

Here’s some of the details of what you can expect when you see “Epcot Forever” this October 1st, 2019.

“An all-new, limited-time spectacle of fireworks, music, lighting, lasers and choreographed, special effects kites. The show will take us on a journey through the past, present and future of Epcot. Featuring a stirring collection of songs that paint a colorful picture of the park, this nighttime extravaganza will offer both a trip down memory lane and a look towards the future and all the magical possibilities still to come.”

“Illuminations: Reflections of Earth” first debuted on October 1st, 1999 as part of Epcot’s millennium celebration when it was part of the Siemens sponsorship with Disney before the sponsorship concluded in 2017.

The new nighttime show in 2020 will feature massive floating set pieces, custom-built LED panels, choreographed moving fountains, lights, pyrotechnics and lasers. These are the only known details we know so far for the show. Stay tuned for more details are they are to be announced.
