The Avengers Campus wouldn’t be completed without the fandom’s favorite super heroes and villains that make up the Marvel Universe that is coming to Disney California Adventure later this summer on July 18th.

What’s interesting enough is that the campus doesn’t fall in line within the Marvel canon unlike Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge that at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida. The campus does follow within the mulitverse of Marvel but within a timeline.
Jillian Pagan, a staff writer with Walt Disney Imagineering said to Polygon that:
“Clearly, there was a divergence somewhere, because there are some characters who are alive and well in our land who have sadly sacrificed themselves in another timeline,” explains Pagan at a press event ahead of the land’s opening. “But [just like] in Avengers: Endgame, where they go back to 2012 and everything about the universe is the same up until that point, and then they divide start spinning off into multiple timelines, we see ourselves as having that same shared history, with what we’ve seen in the films. And then clearly there was just that point in time where they’ve split off and now have created in one timeline these new campuses for us to assemble alongside them.”
She further continued by saying:
“It’s a little bit more through context clues. However, the cast members who will be bringing the land to life will potentially know about that if they ask you to incorporate that into their backstory,” says Pagan. “Depending on the character they might not know about the multiverse. The cast member working out of the Sanctum area probably does. He’s hanging out with Dr. Strange. But the scientists over by Pym Test Kitchen, maybe not.”
If you wanna get super nerdy for those who are huge Marvel fans and asking around of where Tony Stark is towards cast members, as the campus will be throwing you clues and Easter Eggs within the Marvel Universe.
For the upcoming Marvel shows coming to Disney+ like “WandaVision”, “Falcon and The Winter Solider”, “Loki” could be possible Easter eggs within the campus according towards Insider.
The creative teams at both Marvel and Walt Disney Imagineering have discussed for these new series coming up and how to incorporate it within the parks.
“It takes a lot of trust from our whole organization to say, ‘Hey, we’re going to start building this building, but the story, we’re going to wait on until we know the full series of what’s happening with all the Disney Plus shows,” said portfolio creative executive at Walt Disney Imagineering Scot Drake of what they have to consider when they start working on these lands years in advance.
Even to also note that Marvel Studios head boss, Kevin Feige even said about the Avengers Campus being “absolutely the next progression” of Marvel Super Hero storytelling according to Comicbook from a recent media preview.

- Black Widow

Ant Man & The Wasp will be making their first ever appearances within Disney Parks and Iron Man himself that will debut within his new armor of the Mark 80 for the campus. Finally for the master of the mystic arts, Doctor Strange will train recruits by bringing this ancient sanctum to life with powerful spells. At night, the area glows even more vividly with majestic colors and lights, pulsating with mystic energy.

Landscape designer Matt Jones describes the Sanctum as having a hidden, shady and quiet feel, in contrast to the striking contemporary architecture of the Avengers Headquarters. “Around 40 trees will be transplanted from around Disneyland to help transform the Sanctum into an overgrown mystical garden”, according to Jones to a post on Good Morning America
