First Ever Mickey Themed Attraction Coming Towards Disney’s Hollywood Studios

So now we have an official name for the Star Wars expansion coming towards Disney’s Hollywood and as well for the upcoming Toy Story expansion to. As much as the craziness of construction going on or at “construction studios” we, have an official and confirmed and first ever Mickey-themed attraction coming towards the park. This will be entitled “Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway” as the iconic Mickey Mouse who is a global pop culture icon.

Recently a couple of days ago in which, permits were filed for “The Great Movie Ride” show building and was rumored and now officially going to be replaced with this Mickey-themed attraction. The permit is worth noting of saying of an end date of October 31st, 2019 in which could be speculated as a “possible” official opening date or a place holder date until Disney officially announces it. The D23 Expo for the Disney Parks & Resorts last night confirmed these details of what “Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway” will be about.

“On Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, you’ll step through the movie screen and join Mickey and his friends like never before. The attraction will put you inside the wacky and unpredictable world of a Mickey Mouse Cartoon Short where you’re the star and anything can happen. This zany out-of-control adventure features surprising twists and turns, dazzling visual effects and mind-boggling transformations that happen before your very eyes.”

This will be coming from and inspired from the Mickey Shorts that are current on the Disney Channel and the division for Disney Animation Television are working with Walt Disney Imagineering to bring this attraction to life. Walt Disney Imagineer Kevin Rafferty said “teams are inventing new technologies that turn the flat world of a colorful cartoon short into a “dimensional display of amazingness.” It will also include the most hidden Mickey’s then any other attraction or in any of the Disney Parks worldwide and no glasses will be required as they are calling it “2 1/2 D”. Including a brand new singable song with a feature new story for the leader of the Fab 5 gang.

“This is one of the boldest…most impossible things I’ve ever worked on in almost 40 years of being an Imagineer. And you know what? That’s what I love about it. Well, that, and Mickey,” Kevin said. “This is not going to be a small attraction, it’s going to be game-changing.”

Unfortunately, for you really passionate fans about “The Great Movie Ride” that it’s closing sooner then you think it is and under a month to be exact. The official closing date will be August 13th, 2017 for the last day of operation. Now it’s also worth noting that, it “could be” because Disney and Turner Classic Movies contract isn’t renewing and Disney doesn’t want to be under the sponsorship position, like how Siemens ended their contract for Spaceship Earth at Epcot.

It could be for a reason in which big companies couldn’t afford to write up an affordable paycheck to keep the sponsorship going and Disney isn’t just in the best interest in following that business model. This is all just personal speculation as many fans in the Disney community are still on the fence of this Mickey-themed attraction taking over the Chinese Theater.

But on a lighter note, you have some time to relieve of some of your favorite scenes in the attraction presented by TCM and the narration of Robert Osborne of the magic of Hollywood! More updates and details will be coming later at a given time for “Runaway Railway”.
